Alney Island- Site visit

This week, as a cohort, we went on a site visit to Alney Island. This is the site location of our design project this semester and the next. Alney Island is (location).

It is currently a very run-down and overgrown site, with its main use being for dog walking and cattle grazing.

Due to its close proximity to the Gloucester Quays, it is a prime location for the development of a festival, as per our brief request.

Because of the site's currently very wild and natural composition, my initial thoughts are to use this within the theme of my festival, either as a “back to nature” festival or a festival based on the concept of “biophilia”. This would also make it easier for me to spend my £20m budget on more key areas of the site, as opposed to using it to clear the existing nature and build more rigid infrastructure.
