For our sustainable technology module we are using the park campus site to create an attenuation basin and some mounds, one of which has woodland planting on. As part of this submission we are asked to create a phase one habitat survey. Whilst noting down key species I took site photos, these are below.
Above is a moodboard displaying the type of plating I proposed for St Aidans 'hot boarder' planting. I intentionally used plants with a variety of interests year-round and chose non-toxic species. This was due to the site catering for people with a range of disabilities that may not understand the dangers of ingesting some plant material. This brief also mentioned people with visual impairements that will be using this space, because of this I focused strongly on all sensory elements. In particular I chose strongly scented planting like lavender, rosemary etc. I also chose wide tactile varieties so that visitors can run their hands along the border and feel the different heights and textures of the planting. Above is the rough planting plan I created for the smaller of the two hot boarders. Above are the planting sizes to give a reference to go on when considering spacing and sizing.
