James corner festival garden design
For a recent cultural context lecture, we were each tasked to design a 5m x 5m festival garden based on the work and ethos of a specific chosen designer. These ranged from Vivienne Westwood, Bridget Riley, Andy Warhol etc. I was given the designer James Corner. Famously known for his work on the New York Highline. His style is definitely different to mine, as he tends to use quite brutalist materials and geometric shapes. Wheres I am a fan off cottage planting and organic shapes. Trying to combine my style while also playing homage to his design ethos was very interesting.
Although I wouldn't usually design a garden in this way I do really like the outcome, and I feel it was good for me to design in a different way than I would naturally.
